1. What we mean by cookies

"Cookies" here covers cookies and equivalent technologies such as browser local storage and session storage. VIKIO relies mostly on local and session storage rather than traditional cookies, but the same rules and the same choices apply.

2. Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to work. They cannot be switched off, and consent is not required for them.

• Authentication and session — keeps you signed in across pages and reloads, stored by our authentication provider under a key beginning with "sb-"
• Login session identifier — a short-lived session-storage value that ensures a companion greets you once per sign-in rather than on every page
• Security — protects sign-in and server requests from abuse and cross-site attacks
• Account state — remembers your active companion so chat opens where you left off
• Checkout state — Stripe sets its own strictly necessary storage on its hosted checkout and billing pages to process your payment securely
• Cookie consent record — stores the choices you make in this banner, so we do not ask again

3. Functional

These remember preferences so the product behaves the way you set it. They are optional and can be turned off, though some conveniences will stop persisting.

• Interface preferences and remembered UI state
• Draft state, such as an unfinished companion in the builder
• Onboarding progress, so you do not repeat steps you already completed

4. Analytics

VIKIO does not currently use third-party analytics cookies. We do keep server-side error and usage records needed to operate and meter the service, which are described in the Privacy Policy and do not rely on cookies. If we add an analytics provider, we will list it here and only load it after you consent, where consent is required.

5. Marketing and advertising

VIKIO does not use advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent first where required.

6. Your choices

On VIKIO

Use the cookie banner when you first arrive, or open Cookie Settings in the footer at any time to accept all, reject everything that is not strictly necessary, or manage categories individually. Optional categories are not activated before you consent where consent is legally required.

In your browser

You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary storage will sign you out and prevent VIKIO from working.

For attorney review — Whether a consent banner is legally required, and in which regions it must appear, depends on where users are located (for example the EU/UK ePrivacy rules). Confirm the regional trigger and the record-keeping requirements with counsel.
